Lectures

Current Lecture – "Eagle Nesting Diaries Series"

A close and intimate peek at bald eagle family life from the perspective of three different nests (from the time the eggs are laid through and after fledging - first flight):

  • The first nest documents bald eagle family life from the time the eggs are laid through fledging. It was developed as part of work done with the Center for Conservation Biology, College of William and Mary in Virginia.
  • The second nest documents a "first year" pair of bald eagles establishing their relationship and territory along the Upper Delaware River in NY, building their first nest, having their first family, and following the chick development through two months after fledging.
  • The third nest documents the historic successful fledging of four bald eagle chicks from a nest along the Delaware River in Northampton County, PA from the time that the four chicks were first observed through several weeks after they fledged.
Set to music and natural sounds with sub-titles, viewers are able to see bald eagle chick development at these three different nests, each providing a different and very unique perspective. The program, which is offered for both student and adult audiences, includes documentary video and lecture.

Thanks again for your presentation to Washington Crossing Audubon Society last night. I really enjoyed it myself, and I'm sure you could tell from the reaction of the group and the number of people who stayed afterwards to talk that everyone else did as well. Having lived in Virginia and worked across the Potomac in Maryland, maybe next time I'll recall that the river doesn't stop being the boundary between the states after you leave the DC metro area! Events

Wildlife and environmental conservation and preservation are challenges that touch all of us. This was the focus of John and Yoke DiGiorgio when they first approached the Narrowsburg community leaders in 2001 with the idea to establish EagleFest. Combining entertainment and education for all attending, the award winning "EagleFest" held in Narrowsburg, NY is an event for everyone to be proud of! Successful in bringing local residents and out-of-town visitors of all ages to the day's multi-faceted series of activities, it brings much deserved attention to the natural resources that enrich our lives in the Delaware River Valley region.

Located along the Delaware River in Sullivan County, New York, Narrowsburg has been named the Eagle Capital of New York. This is because, in addition to increasingly more bald eagles that make the Upper Delaware Region their permanent home, eagles from up north migrate here each winter for the open water, abundant food supply and protected habitat.
